Dear Mayor Kenney and Managing Director Abernathy:
On behalf of the board, staff, and community of the Movement Alliance Project, we write this letter in support of the housing encampment on the Parkway in Philadelphia, at the Philadelphia Housing Authority, and in support of those community members and families who have claimed empty homes in North Philadelphia.
Housing is a human right, and the lack of housing has brutally impacted and furthered racial oppression and mass incarceration in our city. To save precious resources in a time of austerity, you must meet the demands of Occupy PHA and its partner organizations.
